Oak Woodlands - GG Park Work Party this SAT AUG 8 @ 10 AM
Site: Oak Woodlands
When: Sat, 08 Aug 2009, 10:00 - 12:00 (Pacific Time (US & Canada))
Where: Conservatory of Flowers
What:
It’s time for our regular “second Saturday” habitat restoration workparty at the Oak Woodlands in Golden Gate Park with the Natural Areas Program!
Tom Annese and his wife Rebecca have departed for a new life in Iowa.
His diligent and expert work as as a key staff gardener and leader with the Natural Areas Program and the Oak Woodlands will always be appreciated. The California Native Plant Society will miss his leadership and ideas. We wish them well.
The ’ Guardsmen ’ and the SF Horseshoe Pitchers Association are well into their project to restore the horseshoe Pits and Grotto.
This is a very exciting development in terms of adding great value to the Park and restoring an area surrounded by the Oak Woodland.
We consider them partners in the movement to rehabilitate and revitalize this part of GG Park.
Dylan Hayes , one of Natural Areas’ dynamic and capable staff gardener / work party leaders , will be taking over Tom’s role as Oak Woodland leader and we are grateful.
We will be working to remove invasive acacia from an area in the Oak Woodland near the Conservatory.
Please come out to join Dylan, myself and other volunteers.
We can also take a look at the work done in the Horseshoe Pits area.
Please bring a friend,
